Solar Rebates

Various rebates on solar hot water systems and solar power systems are available. All of the Edwards solar hot water systems and solar power systems are eligible for the Renewable Energy Certificates (REC’s) which we are able to offer as a point of sale discount on installed systems within the Metropolitan area.

To determine the number of REC’s each system is eligible for, the Government tests each manufacturers systems and awards a number of REC’s directly relating to the performance of the system and the solar zone where the SHWS is installed.

More information on REC’s and the REC’s Calculator can be found at the Office of Renewable Energy Regulator   http://www.orer.gov.au

The value of the REC’s can fluctuate and will be quoted at the point of sale.  As of the 1st January 2011 REC’s will be changing to Small Scale Technology Certificates – STC’s.  We will advise regarding these changes when we have further information from the ORER confirmed.

Other Rebates for solar hot water systems

For replacing an electric storage water heater with a qualifying SHWS with a minimum of 20 REC’s a $1000 rebate is available from the Federal Government ($600 for heat pumps).

Note: available to home owners that have not already accessed the Insulating Australian Households rebate. Further information available from the Department of Climate Change and energy efficiency - http://www.climatechange.gov.au/default.aspx

A $500 rebate ($700 LPG ) is available from WA State Government for installing a qualifying SHWS boosted by gas. Further information available from the Government of Western Australia Office of Energy – http://www.clean.energy.wa.gov.au/index.asp

Solar Power Systems

The Solar Credits program is based on the Renewable Energy Certificate system, which is available to most Australian households, businesses and community groups.

This applies with a certificate multiplier incentive offering 3x the usual number of REC’s issued for solar power systems up to 1.5kW.  This is scheduled to change to 2x as of the 1st July 2012.

For larger than 1.5kw systems the balance of the system over 1.5kw then receives 1x multiplier on the REC’s. Further information available from the Office of Renewable Energy Regulator - http://www.orer.gov.au/
